Designed to enhance performance, improve drivability, and maintain reliability, this tuning solution offers three distinct power levels tailored to your driving needs.

This product is for the pickup only, all of the SUV 3.0's are E66 ECM which is a different product option.

This product is for NON-REFRESH Trucks Only!! An Easy way to tell if the truck is a 20-22 or a 22.5 refresh is the center radio display. If it has the large new display then it is a 22.5+ truck and the E66 controller.

There are 2 ways to unlock the ECM:

1. Send in ECM unlock service from HPTuners

2. Use the AMDP Power Programmer to unlock the ECM on the vehicle in a similar fashion to the E41/L5P

Power Levels:

• Level 1: 0 HP (Delete Only)

  • Designed for emissions-conscious drivers or those seeking a delete-only option.

  • Maintains stock power output while optimizing engine efficiency.
    

  • Ideal for daily driving with enhanced fuel economy and reliability.
    

• Level 2: +30 HP Over Stock

  • Adds approximately 30 HP and 70 lb-ft of torque over stock for a noticeable performance boost.

  • Enhances mid-range torque for better acceleration and towing capability.

  • Maintains factory safety parameters and emissions equipment for compliance.

  • Improved fuel economy under light throttle or highway driving conditions.
    

• Level 3: +50 HP Over Stock

  • Delivers maximum power with approximately 50 HP and 110 lb-ft of torque over stock 

  • Requires an aftermarket S&B cold air intake (recommended) to ensure safe operation due to increased airflow demands.

  • Optimized for performance driving with significantly improved throttle response and power delivery across the RPM range.
    

  • Not recommended for heavy towing due to increased thermal load; ideal for spirited driving or light-duty applications.

Additional Benefits:

• Transmission Optimization: TCM tuning enhances shift points, reduces shift times, and improves torque converter lockup for better efficiency and performance.

• Reliable Performance: All tunes maintain factory safety backdowns to protect the engine and transmission under high-load conditions.

• Quick Installation: Requires an unlocked E46 ECM and T93 TCM (available through HP Tuners or select partners). Tunes are flashed using the HP Tuners MPVI3+ device with 6-10 credits (not included).

Requirements:

• HP Tuners MPVI3+ device and licensing credits (purchased separately).

• Unlocked E46 ECM and T93 TCM (unlocking service available through HP Tuners or authorized partners).

• S&B cold air intake recommended for Level 3 to ensure safe operation.

• Can bus plugs are required to be installed

 

Instructions for Unlocking and Tuning Vehicle ECM

Reading the ECM

1. Ensure you’re using the latest HP Tuners Beta software.
2. Open VCM Editor (Beta).
3. Connect the MPVI3 to the vehicle’s OBDII port.
4. Turn the vehicle to the ON position:
   • Key Start: Turn the key to the accessory position.
   • Push Button: Press the start button without pressing the brake for 8–10 seconds.
5. Click the “Read Vehicle” icon.
   • Select “Do Not Read” for the T93 TCM.
6. Save the file as “ECM Read” followed by the VIN or AMDP order number.
7. Email the file to sales@amdieselperformance.ca, including your order number in the email subject.

Tuning the ECM

1. Save the tune file provided by AMDP.
2. Open VCM Editor (Beta) and load the AMDP tune file.
3. Connect the MPVI3 to the OBDII port and run the USB cable to your laptop.
4. Turn the vehicle to the ON position (follow step 4 from “Reading the ECM”).
5. Click the “Write Vehicle” icon.
6. In the Licensing window, click “Show License Options,” select “Specific,” and click OK.
7. Confirm “YES” to license the ECM.
8. Ensure the dropdown menu is set to “WRITE ENTIRE,” then click “Write.”
9. The write process takes 8–9 minutes. Once complete, click “Close” and turn off the vehicle.
10. Start the vehicle.

Instructions for TCM Licensing and Tuning

Note: TCM licensing differs from ECM. Follow these steps carefully to avoid errors. AMDP is not responsible for incorrect licensing, which may require purchasing 4 additional credits.

Pre-Install Instructions

1. Ensure you’re using the latest HP Tuners Beta software. Download here if needed: https://www.hptuners.com/downloads/
2. Open VCM Scanner (Beta).
3. Connect the MPVI3 to the vehicle.
4. Generate an info log for the stock TCM and save it as “Stock TCM INFO LOG” followed by the VIN or order number. See: https://www.hptuners.com/documentation/files/VCM-Editor/Content/How_To_Generate_a_VCM_Infolog.htm
5. Navigate to Vehicle Controls & Special Functions > General.
6. Select “Replace TCM” and follow on-screen instructions with the stock TCM installed. Do not skip this step to avoid valve body error codes.
7. After installing the modified TCM, select “Replace TCM” again.
   • Select “NO” for the stock TCM prompt.
   • Select “YES” for the new/replacement TCM.
8. Complete the on-screen instructions with the modified TCM installed. Do not skip this step to avoid valve body error codes.

TCM Tuning

1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
2. Click the “Read Vehicle” button and select “Read.”
3. Save the read file as “NEW TCM READ” followed by the order number. This file is critical for TCM recovery if issues occur.
4. Email the read file to AMDP with the VIN or order number for safekeeping.
5. Open the modified TCM tune file from AMDP.
6. Select “Write Entire” to write the transmission file.
