Cummins 6.7 Delete Pipe and Exhaust Fitment FAQ

Most 6.7 Cummins fitment questions come down to two things: your model year and whether your Ram is a pickup or a cab and chassis. Polar Diesel builds separate delete pipes for each, so picking the right one matters. This FAQ covers 2007.5-2026 Ram 2500, 3500 and cab and chassis trucks with the 6.7L Cummins so you can get it right the first time.

Off-road and competition use only. Polar Diesel delete pipes and full exhaust systems are built for off-road and race use. They are not intended for use on public roads or highways, and they require aftermarket tuning. Check the rules where you live before you buy or install.

What does a Cummins delete pipe replace?

A Polar Diesel delete pipe replaces the DPF and CAT section of your truck's factory exhaust with a single T409 stainless pipe. It comes with pre-bent hangers, stainless lap joint clamps and precise flanges for a clean, bolt-up install. If you want to replace everything from the turbo back, look at a full Polar exhaust instead (covered below).

Is my truck a pickup or a cab and chassis?

Check this before anything else, because the delete pipes are not interchangeable:

  • Pickup (Ram 2500/3500 with a factory box): Use the pickup delete pipe for your year. None of the pickup delete pipes fit cab and chassis models.
  • Cab and chassis (Ram chassis cab trucks, sold without a factory box): Use the cab and chassis delete pipe. It does not fit pickups.

I have a 2007.5-2012 Cummins. What fits?

  • 2007.5-2012 Cummins 6.7L Polar Delete Pipe: fits 2007.5-2012 Ram 2500/3500 pickups. Does not fit cab and chassis.
  • 2007.5-2009 full exhausts: the 5" Polar Exhaust and 4" Polar Exhaust, with muffler versions also offered.
  • 2010-2012 full exhausts: these trucks run the 2010-2018 systems listed in the next section. Some 2010-2012 trucks may need a slight hanger modification depending on which OEM DPF the truck came with.

What about 2025-2026 Cummins trucks?

Right now, Polar Diesel's 2025-2026 Cummins exhaust lineup is DPF-back: the 2019-2026 Cummins 6.7L 5" Polar DPF Back Exhaust and the 2019-2026 304SS 5" Polished DPF Back Exhaust. Check the 2025-2026 Cummins exhaust collection for the latest.

Will a full exhaust fit my cab, box and suspension?

For the 2010-2018 and 2019-2024 full exhausts:

  • Suspension: Listed for leaf spring, coil spring and air ride trucks.
  • Length: Depending on your box and cab, one cut may be needed to set the overall length, and on systems with a muffler.
  • Factory air bags: Heat wrapping the exhaust near the air bag is highly recommended to keep added heat away from it.
  • 2010-2012 trucks: May need a slight hanger modification based on the OEM DPF variation.

Do I need tuning?

Yes. Delete pipes and full exhaust systems on the 6.7L Cummins require aftermarket tuning and modifications to run properly. If you'd rather not piece it together, a Polar Diesel Power Package bundles hard parts with tuning for your year range, such as the 2007.5-2009, 2010-2012, 2013-2018, 2019-2021 and 2022-2024 Cummins 6.7L Power Packages. Many owners pair exhaust work with an EGR or CCV delete, which we cover in Cummins 6.7 EGR cooler problems and why owners delete and Cummins 6.7 CCV delete benefits and install.

I want to keep my DPF. What should I buy instead?

Go with a DPF-back system like the 2019-2026 Cummins 6.7L 5" Polar DPF Back Exhaust. It replaces only the section behind the factory aftertreatment, so the DPF stays on the truck. It's listed for Ram 2500 coil spring trucks, Ram 3500 standard leaf spring trucks and trucks with factory air ride. Our DPF-back exhaust buyer guide explains the options, and the Cummins 6.7 DPF-back install guide walks through the job.

How hard is the install?

Polar Diesel delete pipes and exhausts are designed for an easy, hassle-free install, with pre-bent hangers, stainless lap joint clamps and precise flanges. Use the install guide for your year: 2013-2018 Cummins 6.7 exhaust or 2019-2024 Cummins 6.7 exhaust. You can also download the official PDFs from the Polar Diesel installation guides hub. Let the exhaust cool completely before you start.

Quick fitment checklist before you order

  1. Confirm your model year: 2007.5-2012, 2013-2018, 2019-2024 or 2025-2026.
  2. Confirm pickup or cab and chassis. Pickup delete pipes don't fit chassis cabs, and the chassis cab pipe doesn't fit pickups.
  3. For a full exhaust, note your cab, box and suspension, and plan for one possible cut.
  4. If your truck has factory air bags, plan to heat wrap near them.
  5. Plan your tuning before the parts arrive.
